Paris-Plages 2015 is getting ready!

In three days, sand, deck chairs, palm trees will be back for the Paris-Plages event. During our morning walking tour we spotted the installation work…

No less than 5,000 tonnes of sand were shipped from Normandy on the Seine to reach the Parisian banks.

Paris-Plages (Paris-Beach) is a free Summer event which was first inaugurated in 2002 by then Mayor of Paris, Bertrand Delanoë.

In 2015, Paris-Plages will take place from the 20th July to the 23rd August from 9am to midnight. There will be three main locations:

  • Voie Pompidou, a 3.5 km stretch on the Right Bank between Pont-Neuf to Pont de Sully
  • Place de l’Hôtel de Ville with many beach activities
  • Bassin de la Villette (19th arrondissement).

Over the years, Paris-Plages has proven itself a very popular event. During the Summer 2015, more than 6 million people are expected to visit the beaches on the Seine.

In 2015 the beach will be open daily between the 20th July and the 23rd August.
