Bauget is one of our favourite pâtisseries in Maisons-Laffitte. They are also a chocolaterie and bake some nice bread too. Here the emphasis is on quality and tradition. Everything is beautifully presented and perfectly clean and you will always get a warm welcome.
When we returned after our 8 year absence in Australia the owners still remembered us and we were welcomed back with open arms. Apparently they remember the smiley customers (!) which we always try to be. Here you will find authentic French delicacies – no packet mixes or pre-made frozen items. They are a “traiteur” (caterer) too so you can order savoury and sweet food for parties or evenings in. It’s not a fussy or snooty place like some Parisian places, it has the right tone and a lovely long queue of regulars, some who have shopped here for decades. With Easter coming up we wanted to highlight their beautiful chocolate eggs, hens and Easter bells (for in the Île de France the bells bring the eggs!). They make their chocolates by hand and you can see the commitment to excellence by the way they spend their day off re-doing the “vitrine” for Easter and making it all look so pretty. Here are some pictures we took of their beautiful Easter displays and chocolates. It’s easy to see why everyone wants to live in France!
