Car c'est un bon camarade (also known as Il est un bon camarade) is a popular song whose tune comes from another famous French song from the 18th century.

The story of the song

The tune is the French version of "For He's A Jolly Good Fellow". This popular song, sung all over the world originally came from the French song Malbrough s'en va-t-en guerre.

As in English, Car c'est un bon camarade is usually sung to congratulate someone on a happy event. It is sometimes it is sung after "Happy birthday to you".
